Description

Product Technical Specification: DAVO EB Type Powder Coating

1. Product Description

DAVO EB type powder coating is a thermosetting pure epoxy powder coating specifically designed for the three-layer PE (Polyethylene) anti-corrosion system of pipelines. It can form a high-performance anti-corrosion system together with an intermediate adhesive and an outer layer of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The epoxy powder underlayer offers excellent adhesion and cathodic disbondment resistance, while the outer polyethylene layer provides superior mechanical properties, water resistance and weather resistance. The intermediate adhesive layer organically bonds the powder layer and the polyethylene layer, integrating the advantages of both the epoxy coating and the polyethylene layer. This complete anti-corrosion system is a widely adopted anti-corrosion technology in the industry.

2. Storage Conditions

Store in an environment with a temperature below 30℃ and relative humidity below 60%. The shelf life is 6 months. Beyond this period, the product must pass re-inspection before use.

3. Powder Curing Requirements

  1. Remove oil, rust, other loose deposits and moisture from the surface.
  2. Perform sandblasting or shot blasting treatment to Sa2.5 grade, with an anchor pattern depth of 50~90μm. Clean the surface to a near-white level. Note that new and old sand should be added evenly to maintain a stable ratio.
  3. Clean the pipeline surface thoroughly.
  4. Preheat the workpiece, generally controlling the temperature at 180~220℃.
  5. Apply the EB powder coating to the pipeline surface using electrostatic spraying method, with a thickness of 60~150μm.
  6. Wrap the hot melt adhesive over the epoxy powder coating at a temperature close to its melting point, with a minimum thickness of 200μm.
  7. Extrude and wrap the polyethylene outer layer over the intermediate adhesive layer at its melting point (approximately 240℃), and compact the three layers with pressure rollers to prevent interlayer bubbles.
  8. Cool the coating.
  9. Repair any missed spots.

4. Curing Instructions

  1. Apply the EB powder coating to the preheated workpiece and cure it in accordance with the spraying requirements to achieve optimal performance.
  2. The intermediate adhesive layer must be applied before the powder gels to ensure the two layers fuse into one.
  3. The higher-temperature intermediate adhesive layer and outer PE layer can provide guaranteed conditions for powder curing.
  4. Curing parameters:
    • 180℃ for 5 minutes
    • 205℃ for 3 minutes
